Abgar Aram Diego Barsom (born September 4, 1977 in Örebro ) is a former Swedish football player of Aramaic descent. The midfielder , who played in the Swedish U-18 squad, played in Sweden, Greece, the Netherlands and Norway over the course of his career.

Career

Barsom played in his youth at BK Forward in his hometown of Örebro. After he had made his debut for the club in the men's division during the 1996 season and was able to fight for a regular place in the second division Division 1, he had to relegate to Division 2 Västra Svealand with the club at the end of the season . After three years in the third division, he was poached by Djurgårdens IF .

When the first division relegated he was able to play his way directly into the regular team. After a knee injury in the summer, he initially lost his regular place, which he was able to regain after climbing the Allsvenskan . In the summer of 2002 he left the club, the cup winners and at the end of the season won the Lennart Johansson Cup as Swedish champion, and moved to SC Heerenveen .

In the Netherlands, however, Barsom remained unlucky and after a year and a half in the honor division , he returned to Sweden and DIF . With the club he won the Svenska Cup in 2004 and a year later the double of championship and cup victory. After his contract expired in December 2006, he went to Greece for the second division Messiniakos for half a year .

In the summer of 2007 Barsom returned to Sweden in the Allsvenskan. The new employer was Örebro SK , which was in the relegation battle , where he signed a contract that was valid until the end of the season. Although the relegation was managed third from bottom, Barsom decided to change clubs. At the turn of the year it was announced that he would join the Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK, trained by his compatriot Anders Grönhagen , in the Tippeligaen . Despite two transfers during the season, he was able to establish himself as a regular player in his first season in Norway and was runner-up with the club.

After his contract expired at the end of 2009 Barsom was initially without a contract, in March he returned to Sweden and joined the second division team Syrianska FC . At the side of Suleyman Sleyman , Yussuf Saleh and Peter Ijeh , he was a regular player and one of the guarantors for the first league promotion in the club's history. He ended the 2011 season with the team on the relegation place , as a goal scorer in the second leg against Ängelholms FF , he was instrumental in staying up after a 2-1 defeat in the first leg and a 3-1 second leg success.

In December 2011, Barsom's name was dropped in the context of a scandal in Norwegian football when irregularities in player transfers from Fredrikstad FK were uncovered. At the center of the police investigation are the former sports director Morgan Andersen - known from the Premier League transfer controversy over John Obi Mikel - and the transfer of the Estonian Raio Piiroja , but also with regard to the then transferable Barsom, a payment of one million Swedish kronor was paid to a company that was later dissolved.
