The BK Forward is a Swedish football club from Örebro . The club played in the Swedish second division for several years.

history

BK Forward was founded in 1934 under the name IF Svea , but changed its current name a short time later. After the team had briefly played third class in the 1940/41 season, the club stayed in the third division until 1945 after being promoted again immediately. This time it was not until 1956 before the return succeeded again. Again, the club only stayed in the league for a short time and developed into an elevator team in the following years . From 1967 the team established itself at the third league level and created midfield positions. In 1973, as second behind IFK Falköping, one point was missing to win the relay in Division 3 Östra Svealand , in 1977 with the same placement behind Degerfors IF seven points. Two years later, the team was the first to move into the promotion round, in which they were prematurely ascertained to the second division after victories against Motala AIF and Jonsereds IF .

With five points behind a non-relegation place BK Forward ended the first season in the second division and had to relegate together with IF Brommapojkarna and Hudiksvalls ABK . As the season winner, the team moved into the promotion round and initially prevailed against Varberg's BoIS , but failed in the second round to Myresjö IF . Although she occupied top places in the following seasons, only succeeded in 1986 as a season winner and a 1-0 home win and a 1-2 away defeat against Falkenbergs FF in the promotion games due to the away goals rule of promotion . BK Forward established itself in the second division and was able to occupy fourth place in the table in 1989 behind Hammarby IF , Vasalunds IF and Kiruna FF . The club went downhill in the mid-1990s. After the last non-relegation place was occupied in 1995, he rose in the following year together with Visby IF Gute , IK Sirius and Gimonäs CK in the third division.

After a ninth place in the table in 1997, BK Forward missed the rise in the subsequent season as third behind Enköpings SK and Tyresö FF . In 2000, the team finished the series as leaders, lost both games against Motala AIF in the promotion round. In 2002 the result was repeated, this time the team prevailed after a 0-0 draw in their own place thanks to a 4-4 draw in the away game at Husqvarna FF . In the second division season in 2003 , however, she only won seven games this season and rose again together with IFK Malmö and IF Sylvia .

In the third division, BK Forward established itself in the front area and survived a league reform at the third league level in 2005.

Other departments

At times, other sports besides soccer were practiced at BK Forward. At the beginning there was a bandy department . This was initially discontinued in 1941 when ice hockey was introduced. In 1960 the club started playing bandy again, but in 1978 the department was closed again. In 1985, the ice hockey department ceased to exist. The club's ice hockey department took part several times in the 1940s and 1950s in the Swedish championship , which was then still held in cup mode .
