Johann Baptist Hierl (born January 17, 1856 in Parsberg ; † August 31, 1936 in Regensburg ) was auxiliary bishop in Regensburg .

Life

After completing his studies, he was ordained a priest on November 4, 1880 . After several chaplain positions , he became pastor of Vilseck , where he also became dean . In 1908 he became cathedral capitular by royal appointment . From 1899 to 1909, Johann Baptist Hierl was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the center .

After a serious illness, Bishop Anton von Henle asked for an auxiliary bishop, whom he then received in the person of the Cathedral Chapter Hierl. On February 4, 1911, he was appointed titular bishop of Teuchira and auxiliary bishop in Regensburg. On April 18, 1911, he received the episcopal ordination by Franz Anton von Henle (Bishop of Regensburg). Co- consecrators were Ferdinand von Schlör (Bishop of Würzburg) and Johannes Leo von Mergel OSB (Bishop of Eichstätt). The appointment as Provost followed on May 12, 1911.

His estate is in the archives of the Regensburg diocese .
