Vinzenz Guggenberger (born March 21, 1929 in Osterham , Laberweinting community , Lower Bavaria , † July 4, 2012 in Straubing ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop in Regensburg .

Life

After a humanistic education in Straubing and the subsequent degree in philosophy and Catholic theology at the philosophical-theological college Regensburg was Vinzenz Guggenberger 1953 by Archbishop Michael Buchberger in the High Regensburg Cathedral for priests ordained . He worked as a chaplain in Bodenmais , Wunsiedel and the cathedral parish in Regensburg . Bishop Rudolf Graber appointed him diocesan pilgrim leader (1965), clerical advisory council of the women's association (1965), cathedral pastor Niedermünster (1971) and cathedral chapter (1972).

Pope Paul VI appointed Vinzenz Guggenberger on May 17, 1972 titular bishop of Abziri and auxiliary bishop in Regensburg . The episcopal ordination received his Bishop Rudolf Graber on 24 June 1972. co-consecrators were the Regensburger auxiliary bishops Josef Hiltl and Karl wing . His episcopal motto Parare Domino plebem perfectam (“To create a well-prepared people for the Lord”) comes from the Gospel of Luke ( Lk 1.17  EU ). The Regensburg Cathedral Chapter elected him in 1984 to the provost . Until 1996 he also held the office of Episcopal Commissioner for the Economic Affairs of the Diocese. As episcopal vicar , he was responsible for the religious orders and the supra-diocesan aid organizations as well as coordinator for the Church in the Czech Republic . From January 16 to November 23, 2002 he held the office of diocesan administrator . He was regional dean for the Regensburg region. As a member of the German Bishops' Conference , he was involved in the commission for spiritual professions and church services as well as in the commission for universal church tasks.

On March 22, 2004, Pope John Paul II granted his age-related retirement request. Reinhard Pappenberger followed him in office.

Vinzenz Guggenberger was still the first chairman of the Institutum Marianum Regensburg e. V. He spent his retirement in the Azlburg monastery in Straubing. He died on July 4, 2012 in Straubing. He was buried in the parish church of his home parish St. Peter in Hofkirchen , municipality of Laberweinting .
