history

Laberweinting Castle in the 18th century (engraving by Michael Wening )

Until the 19th century

Around 790 is in Urbar of Niederaltaich Abbey Wihmvntiga or (copy of 1254) Wimtingen (copy of the 11th century) mentioned, derived from the names of persons Wihmunt. In 1292, Laberweimpting appeared in a document from the Regensburg bishopric , presumably to distinguish it from the Regensburg district of Burgweinting . After Laberwei (n) tig and Loberweinting , Philipp Apian called the place Laberweinting around 1579 .

Laberweinting was closely connected to the Regensburg bishopric , which has demonstrably had property in Laberweinting since the 13th century. The old parish of Laberweinting was incorporated into the Regensburg Cathedral Chapter. The Fraunbergers resided at Laberweinting Castle , the seat of Hofmark Laberweinting, from 1422 to around 1448. The Aichberger Laberweinting disputed them, other owners of the open (spiritual) Hofmark were the Leibelfinger and most recently the Königsfelder for more than two centuries. In the Electorate of Bavaria, Laberweinting belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Kirchberg Regional Court . On October 14, 1808, Count Maximilian von Montgelas bought Hofmark Laberweinting. In 1809, Laberweinting was declared a majorate and, after its abolition, a Fideikommiss .

The municipality of the same name emerged from the tax district of Laberweinting in 1818 with the second municipal edict. In 1833, Count Montgelas sold Laberweinting. In the same year Sallach Castle became the seat of the Laberweinting Patrimonial Court and remained so until its dissolution in 1848.

Nazi dictatorship

From August 1944 to April 1945 there was a killing facility for newborn children of forced laborers in the Mallersdorf / Rottenburg district in the former Ammer brewery in Laberweinting. 64 infants of Polish, Ukrainian and Russian descent found their deaths in the so-called "Polish children's camp" from neglect, malnutrition and illness. The main responsible persons were NS district leader Eduard Mendler and his vice-president Emil Bassmann.
