history
In the year 900 a certificate of the traditions of the Hochstift Regensburg and the monastery St. Emmeram documents the place "Hemminchofun". Hemminhofun, previously Hemminga, contains the name Hemmo, which was in use at that time. So the place name meant with Hemmo and his people. In 1831 Haimelkofen had 125 inhabitants, in 1916 there were 233.
Until 1946 there was the community of Haimelkofen, with the village of Haimelkofen as the only place and a district of 265.19 hectares . It belonged to the Mallersdorf district and to the school and post office in Hofkirchen. Until the regional reform , Haimelkofen was part of the then independent municipality of Hofkirchen in the Mallersdorf district, which was dissolved in 1972. On May 1, 1978 Haimelkofen was incorporated with Hofkirchen after Laberweinting in the Straubing-Bogen district. The last mayor was Johann Schedl († September 30, 1997).
