history
In the visitation protocol of the diocese of Regensburg from 1526, Khirchaschpach is named as a branch of Hofkirchen. On the land tablets of Philipp Apian from 1568 a village Kirchasch is recorded. In the synodal report of Archdechant Gedeon Forster from 1665, the town of Kürchaspach is mentioned. The place name is derived from Asch, which means something like aspen or aspen. Asbach means the place on the brook with the Aspen.
Asbach was an independent municipality until 1970. Ginhart, Furth, Heinzleck, Berghaus, Eckenthal, Hakirchen and Leitersdorf also belonged to the former municipality of Asbach . This community was divided by the territorial reform. The places now belong to different communities and counties.
In 1970 the community of Asbach voluntarily joined the community of Hofkirchen . Until the administrative reform was Asbach a district of the then independent municipality of Hofkirchen in 1972 resolved district Mallersdorf . On May 1, 1978, Asbach was incorporated with Hofkirchen after Laberweinting in the Straubing-Bogen district. The last mayor of Asbach was Alfons Stadler, Leitersdorf. († November 7, 1989).
