coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the government of Lower Bavaria on October 22, 1982.

Blazon : "In black a continuous silver tip, inside on a green three-mountain, which is covered with three silver ash leaves on a stem, a green fir, the trunk of which is covered with a horizontal black plow."

The silver tip is the coat of arms of the Barons von Weichs, who, as owners of Hofmark Ascha, were important landlords and court lords in the municipality from 1607 to 1796. The green fir on the Dreiberg symbolizes the geographic location of the community in the Bavarian Forest and, in connection with the plow, also reminds of the clearing activity at the time of the early settlement, which is still expressed in the place name Gschwendt. The plow also refers to the agricultural character and the close connection with the city of Straubing, which also has a plow in the coat of arms. The three ash leaves are an image that speaks for the place name Ascha (from Old High German "ask" / ash).
