Irlbach is a municipality in the Straubing-Bogen district in Lower Bavaria .

geography

Irlbach is located in the Gäuboden in the southeast corner of the Straubing-Bogen district. The place is at the mouth of the Irlbach of the same name on the right bank of the Danube.

history

Until the 19th century

Irlbach is mentioned for the first time in Breviarius Urolfi , a deed of donation from Duke Odilo to the Niederaltaich monastery from 741. The church of Irlbach was owned by the Niederaltaich monastery from 1148 until it was abolished in 1803 . The place belonged to the barons of Leoprechting , was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , whose seat was Irlbach. Castle Irlbach was in 1811 by François Gabriel de Bray purchased and was the seat of caste domination of the family Bray . In 1818 today's political community was established. 20th and 21st centuries

In the course of the municipal area reform there were violent disputes about the future of the municipality. The government of Lower Bavaria finally incorporated the municipality of Irlbach into the municipality of Straßkirchen on May 1, 1978. A popular lawsuit before the Bavarian Constitutional Court declared the incorporation of the municipality of Irlbach on November 3, 1983 to be unconstitutional and null and void, and Irlbach became independent again. On January 1, 1986, the Straßkirchen administrative community was formed by law, to which Straßkirchen and Irlbach belong.

mayor

Mayor is Armin Soller (NIWG). He has been the successor to Peter Bauer (SPD / UWG) since May 1, 2020, who has been the successor to Xaver Karl (Free Voters) since 2008.

Municipal council
