Hippolytus von Bray-Steinburg

Hippolyt Graf von Bray-Steinburg (born August 18, 1842 in Athens , † March 7, 1913 in Munich ) was a German diplomat from the Bray family .

Life

Hippolyt von Bray-Steinburg was a son of Otto von Bray-Steinburg and his wife Hippolyta, nee Dentice (1820-1882) from the house of Principi di Frasso. He attended the Pagerie in Munich from 1857 to 1862 , then studied at the University of Bonn after graduating from high school and was a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn from 1863 .

After his internship at the regional court in Straubing and Passau, Bray-Steinburg became a legation attaché in London in 1867 and then in Berlin. From August 17 to December 17, 1870 he was the Bavarian chargé d'affaires in Saint Petersburg and entered service in the Reich in 1871. In 1872 he worked as secretary of the legation in Constantinople , a year later he became secretary of the embassy in Vienna and in 1875 he was secretary of the legation in Stockholm. From 1876 Bray-Steinburg was active in Belgrade . First as Consul General, from 1880 to 1886 as Minister Resident and then as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary. This was followed by uses in the same capacity from 1891 to 1894 in Lisbon , from 1894 to 1897 in Stockholm and from 1897 to 1899 in Bucharest .

In 1911 he became an honorary citizen of Irlbach . Bray-Steinburg was Real Privy Councilor with the predicate excellence , chamberlain, Knight of Honor of the Order of Malta and from 1899 until his death hereditary Reichsrat in the First Chamber of the Bavarian Estates Assembly .

Bray-Steinburg had married Anna von Medem (1848-1922) on May 6, 1871 in Dresden . The marriage resulted in three sons and two daughters.
