Mariaposching was part of the Straubing Rent Office and the Mitterfels Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria. The Mitterfels district court shared jurisdiction with the Deggendorf district court.

Economy including agriculture and forestry

In 1998, according to official statistics, there were no employees at work subject to social security contributions in the manufacturing industry 24 and in the trade and transport sector. There were 491 employees subject to social security contributions at the place of residence. There was one company in the manufacturing sector and one company in the main construction sector. The connection to Plattling and Dingolfing is via the Danube ferry from Mariaposching to Stephansposching, which went into operation in 1870. In 1927 the ferry was renewed.

The Danube ferry Mariaposching – Stephansposching , formerly in private hands, has been operated jointly by the two districts of Straubing-Bogen and Deggendorf under the leadership of the district of Straubing-Bogen since 1981. On April 19, 2016, the old Gierseilferry sank due to overloading. A replacement motor ferry arrived in Mariaposching in February 2019 and began its service on April 3, 2019.

The federal highways A 3 towards Regensburg / Passau and A 92 towards Munich can be reached in about ten minutes by car.
