Episcopal coat of arms

Bishop's coat of arms from Wilhelm Schraml

The coat of arms divided four times, it shows in fields 1 and 4 a red wolf on a silver background, the "Passau wolf" the heraldic animal of the former prince-bishops and today's diocese coat of arms. Field 2, a golden harp on a blue background, shows Wilhelm Schraml's attachment to music, especially church music. Field 3 also shows a green spruce on a blue background, as a symbol for the hometown Erbendorf in the Upper Palatinate Steinwald and the miraculous image of Altötting. Bishop Wilhelm Schraml wants to point out that he recommends the Diocese of Passau and his episcopal work to the Mother of God.

His motto "proclaim Jesus Christ as the Lord" from the 2nd letter of Paul to the Corinthians ( 2 Cor 4,5  EU ) the confession of Jesus Christ, which he already placed above his work as titular bishop of Munatiana and auxiliary bishop in Regensburg.

There is a crossed cross behind the coat of arms, the so-called lecture cross is the heraldic symbol of dignity of the bishops, and a bishop's staff , above the green bishop's hat with the 12 tassels.
