Karl Joseph of Austria (born August 7, 1649 in Vienna , † January 27, 1664 in Linz ) was Bishop of Olmütz , Bishop of Passau and Prince-Bishop of Breslau and Grand Master of the Teutonic Order .

The parents were Emperor Ferdinand III. and Maria Leopoldine of Tyrol . At the age of 13 he became Bishop of Olomouc and Bishop of Passau as well as Grand Master of the Teutonic Order.

In the succession of his uncle Leopold Wilhelm , from whom he inherited his fortune and his art collection, he was named Karl III on February 23, 1663. elected Bishop of Wroclaw . The election was confirmed by Pope Alexander VII on April 23, 1663 and Archdeacon Sebastian von Rostock was appointed coadjutor .

Karl Joseph, who was not yet able to receive higher ordinations because of his youth, could not exercise office and dignity because he died at the age of less than 15 years. Like his parents and other members of the House of Habsburg , he was buried in the "New Crypt" of the Vienna Imperial Crypt. His entrails were buried separately and are located in the duke's crypt .
