Johann Nepomuk von Wolf (born March 29, 1743 in Oettingen ; † August 23, 1829 in Regensburg ) was auxiliary bishop in Freising and bishop of Regensburg .

biography

In 1766 he was ordained a priest . On December 15, 1788 he was appointed titular bishop of Dorylaëum and auxiliary bishop in Freising. The apostolic nuncio Giulio Cesare Zoglio donated him the episcopal ordination on January 15, 1789 .

On December 30, 1802 Wolf became auxiliary bishop in Regensburg. In 1803 there was a vacancy in the diocese of Freising as a result of secularization in Bavaria . The auxiliary bishop Johann Nepomuk von Wolf carried out the ordinations on behalf of the Apostolic Vicar Joseph Jakob von Heckenstaller . On May 7, 1817, Wolf became Apostolic Administrator in Regensburg after the death of Karl Theodor von Dalberg . On September 13, 1821, he was called to the Bishop of Regensburg. Since Wolf was only able to exercise his office to a limited extent due to his advanced age, his later successor Johann Michael Sailer took over important management tasks as cathedral capitular , vicar general , auxiliary bishop and coadjutor in Regensburg (bishop consecration on October 28, 1822 in Regensburg).

Wolf belonged to the Freemasons' Association and was a member of the Viennese lodge on the crowned hope from 1782 and of the lodge on the newly crowned hope from 1786 .
