Karl Hausberger

Karl Hausberger (born May 24, 1944 in Bonbruck ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian . From 1982 to 2009 he was Professor of Historical Theology at the University of Regensburg .

Life

Karl Hausberger attended the Humanist Gymnasium in Straubing , which he left with the Abitur in 1964 . From 1964 to 1971 he studied Catholic theology at the Philosophical and Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1972 Hausberger was ordained a priest in Regensburg Cathedral . In the same year he received his doctorate with the dissertation Gottfried Langwerth von Simmern (1669-1741). Diocese administrator and auxiliary bishop of Regensburg as doctor of theology .

From 1972 to 1974 Hausberger worked as a chaplain and from 1974 to 1976 as a full-time religion teacher at the Karl-von-Closen-Gymnasium in Eggenfelden . From 1976 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the chair for Bavarian Church History in Munich. In 1981 he completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a thesis on State and Church after Secularization. On the Bavarian Concordat Policy in the early 19th century as a private lecturer . In 1982 he took over the chair for historical theology as professor for middle and new Catholic church history at the University of Regensburg. In 2009 he retired .

Hausberger is the author, editor and reviewer of numerous specialist publications. The Bavarian Bibliography lists 230 works by him. Among other things, Hausberger works as an author and publicist for the Biographical-Bibliographical Church Lexicon , the sources and studies on the recent history of theology, the journal for church history , the New German Biography and the articles on the history of the diocese of Regensburg. His 1983 work, The Impulses of the Saints in the Life of the Church , has also been translated into Italian and Portuguese. His work History of the Diocese of Regenburg , which appeared in two volumes in 1989, was awarded the Book Prize of the Bavarian Club in Munich.
