Bavarian bibliography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bavarian Bibliography documented as a national bibliography as completely as possible all publications that a factual reference to Bavaria have. German and foreign-language monographs appearing inside and outside the book trade as well as a large number of articles from magazines , yearbooks , compilations and the local supplements of the Bavarian daily newspapers are documented. There is also a selection of electronic media (e-books, official gazettes, web archives).

history

The beginnings of the Bavarian Bibliography go back to 1927, the year the Commission for Bavarian State History at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences was founded . Up until the reporting year 1958, the bibliography with a historical focus was published in the Zeitschrift für Bayerische Landesgeschichte , founded in 1928, and from the reporting year 1959 as a joint publication by the Commission and the Directorate-General of the Bavarian State Libraries as a supplement to the journal. It now recorded the literature pertaining to Bavaria from all subject areas. With the reporting year 1971, the General Directorate of the Bavarian State Libraries (from 1999 the Bavarian State Library ) took on sole responsibility for processing and editing. The bibliography appeared in print up to the reporting year 1987.

Holdings

Since the reporting year 1988 the Bavarian Bibliography has been created online cooperatively in the network database of the Bavarian Library Network. In addition to the Bavarian State Library , several state ( State Library Ansbach , State and City Library Augsburg , State Library Bamberg , State Library Coburg , Study Library Dillingen , State Library Neuburg an der Donau , State Library Passau , State Library Regensburg ) and the University Libraries Erlangen-Nuremberg , Regensburg and Würzburg are working on processing for their respective regions.

content

The titles are formally recorded according to the Resource Description and Access (RDA) set of rules and subject-specific indexed using a separate system and keywords from the Common Authority File GND . They are available for research in a daily updated database. Approximately 835,000 titles are currently recorded [as of January 2020]. The annual growth is around 23,000 titles. Monographs and articles prior to 1988 are also listed in the context of regional projects. In addition, in December 2013, around 190,000 monographs and journal titles (but not the articles contained therein) from the Bavarica holdings of the Bavarian State Library and the Franconica holdings of the Würzburg and Erlangen university libraries from the period before 1988 back to the early modern period were integrated retrospectively .
