Tarantola made his debut in the Alpine Cup in January 2009 with rank 55 in the 10 km freestyle in Méaudre . He achieved his first point placement in December 2011 with 28th place over 10 km classic in St. Ulrich am Pillersee , his first top ten result a month later with fifth place at the skiathlon in Zwiesel . In January 2013, Tarantola started in the 15 km classic mass start race in La Clusaz for the first time in the World Cup , but missed the points as 59th. A year later, Tarantola won silver in the skiathlon at the U23 World Championships in Fiemme Valley . At its next starts in December 2014 in Lillehammer and Davos , it was placed beyond the top 50, just like on its debut. In the Alpine Cup in March 2015, he finished third on the podium at the prologue of the stage race in Chamonix . In April 2015 Tarantola finished fourth in the Ugra Ski Marathon . At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , Tarantola achieved his third top 5 placement in the Alpine Cup with fourth place over 15 km freestyle in Prémanon . This was followed by nine top ten placements and second place in the overall standings at the end of the season. In the 2016/17 season he came in seven places in the top ten, including third place over 15 km classic in Planica and second place in the 30 km mass start race in St. Ulrich am Pillersee, and fifth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup . He also came second in the König-Ludwig-Lauf . The following season he finished 37th in the Ruka Triple and 34th in the Tour de Ski 2017/18 . He got his first World Cup points in Ruka with 23rd place in the pursuit.
In the 2018/19 season, Tarantola took part in the Worldloppet Cup . He came six times in the top ten, including third place in the König-Ludwig-Lauf and second place each in the Tartu Maraton and Finlandia-hiihto and thus won the overall ranking.
