Wolfgang Beinert (theologian)

Wolfgang Beinert (* 4. March 1933 in Breslau ) is a German Catholic priest , retired university lecturer and publicist . As a professor of Catholic dogmatics , as a long-time companion of Joseph Ratzinger , as an ecumenist and as an observer and commentator on the perception of himself and others in the Catholic Church , Beinert is a valued discussion partner in public discourse beyond the internal church area.

Life

Beinert studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Bamberg and Rome , where he also received the sacrament of ordination in 1959 . In 1963 he was with an ecclesiological dissertation with the title To the third church attribute . During this time he published the Lexicon of Catholic Dogmatics , which first appeared in 1987.

Wolfgang Beinert has lived in Pentling since 1978 , where he is also active in parish pastoral care.
