Ohrfeindt is a rock band from Hamburg-St. Pauli .

history

The band was founded in December 1994 in Hamburg by Chris Laut ( bass , vocals , harmonica ). Werner Bellersen ( drums ) and Timo Peters ( guitar ) were there. Bellersen soon left the group for professional reasons, followed by Tom Nevermann (drums), who brought Uwe Seemann (guitar) with him. For a short time, Ohrfeindt were active as a quartet before Peters left the band. Seemann and Nevermann left the band in 1997, their positions occupied by Torsten Rutz (guitar) and Heiko Boettner (drums). Rutz left in 1999 and was replaced by Sven "Boogie" Behrens (guitar). In the line-up of Laut, Behrens and Boettner, the debut "Schmutzige Liebe", released in September 2003, was recorded in the studio of Sebastian Meyer ( Pothead ).

Another change took place in September 2004. The new line-up with Laut, Dennis Henning (guitar) and Stefan Lehmann (drums) recorded the second album "Rock'n'Roll Sexgott" (released January 2006) and recorded some new songs for the re-release of the debut (also in 2006) . At the same time, the maxi "Es wird Tag auf St. Pauli" was released, which, in addition to the title song, also contains new recordings of "Escape car driver" and "Parasit".

The trio played in clubs as well as on larger stages and increased its visibility through a variety of performances, including at bikers - Events and opened for musicians like Rose Tattoo , Popa Chubby , Torfrock , The Sweet , Die Toten Hosen , In Extremo and Nazareth .

In November 2007 the third studio album "Mit Vollgas & Blaulicht" and the maxi "Fernweh" were released - also recorded by Laut, Henning and Lehmann. The latter contains a 40-minute live video, the previously unreleased songs “Don't lose your nerves” and “Nix as annoyance” as well as the title “Rockstar”, which was previously only released on a sampler.

In December 2008, Ohrfeindt released the limited live albums Auf die Ohr - Live in Bremen and Auf dieorene - Live in Munich, which were recorded only a few weeks before and therefore had to do without overdubs. At the beginning of 2009, the band released another limited live album: Auf die Ears - Live in Heilbronn , which was recorded on the same tour.

In September 2009, the double-live album on the ears was released . These are concert recordings from Bremen, Heilbronn, Müden and Munich. In addition, a DVD edition limited to 1,000 copies was released which, in addition to the double CD, also contains a DVD containing some titles and interviews from the concert in Munich.

In February 2010 the band announced that drummer Stefan Lehmann would switch to Torfrock . On March 21, 2010, Lehmann took his last seat on the Ohrfeindt's drum stool. On March 27, 2010 the band appeared for the first time with his successor Flash Ostrock.

In August 2010, Ohrfeindt went into the studio with the line-up of Henning, Ostrock and Laut to record their fourth studio album. In February 2011 the band announced the release of the album entitled "Black on White" on April 15, 2011. The release date of the accompanying maxi-single “She lost her heart to St. Pauli” was March 18, 2011. In Extremo singer Michael Robert Rhein alias The Last Unicorn sang as a guest on the maxi-single the title “Wenn die Sonne goes down".

In the 16th calendar week of 2011, “Black on White” entered the Media Control Charts at number 53. The album reached number 4 on the Musikwoche newcomer charts and number 1 in the metal / hard rock downloads category on Amazon. In the 2011 independent newcomer annual evaluation by Media Control, the album landed at number 12.

In April 2013 the band announced that Henning and Ostrock would leave the band. On June 22nd, 2013 both played their last show for Ohrfeindt.

Ohrfeindt signed a new record deal with the Hamburg label AFM Records. Studio album No. 5 with the title "Auf die Fresse ist vorsonst" was produced from April to July 2013 by Olman Viper and Chris Laut in the Hertzwerk Zero Two Studios in Hamburg. Ex-OHRENFEINDT drummer Stefan Lehmann (Torfrock) was on the drums for the recordings, guitar was played by Henny Wolter (ex-Thunderhead, now Nitrogods), Bastian Wulff (Loui Vetton), Micky Wolf (Van Wolfen), Jörg Sander (Panik Orchestra ) and (for the first time on an OHRENFEINDT release) Chris Laut himself. The album was released on August 30, 2013 and entered the German Media Control album charts at number 35.

On July 13th, 2013 Die Happy guitarist Thorsten Mewes also took over the six-string work at Ohrfeindt. Andi Rohde was now on the drums.

On September 15, 2014 Thorsten Mewes gave up the guitarist position again - The Happy and other tasks required his full attention, so that there was too little time for those who were ear enemies. Pierre "Club" Blesse took his place.

A year and three days later, on September 18, 2015, the band released their sixth studio album "Motor An!" On AFM Records with the line-up Rohde / Blesse / Laut, which entered the Media Control album charts at number 36. For the first time, in addition to the band's founder, Laut, the other band members were also involved in the composition process. Like its two predecessors, the album was recorded, mixed and mastered in the Hertzwerk Nullz Zwei studios in Hamburg, again produced by Olman Viper and Chris Laut.

Viper and Laut also produced the band's seventh studio album, "Two Fists for Rock'n'Roll," which was released on June 23, 2017 on AFM Records. This time the music came from the pen of the entire band. The lyrics were again written entirely by Chris Laut. For the first time the band recorded in different studios: while string instruments, harmonica and vocals were recorded as before in the Hertzwerk Nullzwei Studios in Hamburg, the drum recordings took place in the Horus Sound Studios in Hanover. The album entered the German Media Control album charts at number 49.

After a label change to Metalville, the band released their eighth studio album on August 31, 2018 under the title "Tanz nackt" on the new edition of the Werner Rennens . The album reached number 38 in the German Media Control album charts.

On November 22nd, 2019, the double album "Halftime! -Lebenslänge Rock'N'Roll" will be released for the 25th anniversary. While a CD with 18 tracks offers a review of the band's career, the second CD features an acoustic album with 10 songs recorded live in the studio. The anniversary concert in Hamburg's Gruenspan (in which the band appears every year on Christmas Day) would be recorded with several cameras in order to be released on DVD at a later date.

style

The band is called " full-throttle rock ." Most of the songs are dominated by hard, blues-based guitar riffs , driving drums and rough vocals in the tradition of AC / DC , Rose Tattoo , Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and others; there are also some rock ballads. The lyrics of the band are in German, AC / DC, Rose Tattoo, Led Zeppelin , Deep Purple and Stoppok are named as influences. The songs are above all descriptive and deal with stories from life - not only in St. Pauli.
