Jazeera Airways or Al Jazeera Airways (English; Arabic طيران الجزيرة, DMG Tayaran al-Ǧazīra ) is a Kuwaiti low-cost airline based in Kuwait City and based on the Kuwait airport .

history

Jazeera Airways was founded in Kuwait in 2005. Officially, it is a low-cost airline. As early as 2004 there were ideas to found another airline in Kuwait, besides Kuwait Airways . A year later, the ideas were implemented and the airline achieved a record revenue within a short time. Jazeera Airways is one of the few so-called "low-cost airlines" in the Arab states. The Boodai Group owns 30 percent, but private owners have 70 percent. Since 2005 only Airbus A320-200s that are serviced by Lufthansa Technik have been used.

In May 2015 it was announced that Jazeera Airways intends to build its own terminal at Kuwait Airport . The reason for this is the planned growth of the airline and the closure of the base in Dubai by the local government; the capacities at the airport in Kuwait are already heavily overloaded. The construction of the new terminal will cost around 33 million US dollars . Talks with the government are already ongoing.

Destinations

Jazeera Airways only flies to destinations in the Asian continent and the Arab world.
