Happy is a German band from Ulm . The English name ("die happy") is a slang variant of the broken neck and leg .

history

The band was founded at the end of 1993 by the guitarist Thorsten Mewes, the bassist Julian Rosenthal, the drummer Marcus Heinzmann and the singer Marta Jandová . Mewes and Heinzmann knew each other from a band that had split up shortly before. In the course of time they came across Julian and Marta, who had immigrated from the Czech Republic only a few days earlier .

The Happy 1998 was one of the first bands to the tape pool from the predecessor of today's Pop Academy were supported. In the same year Die Happy won the young talent competition Baden-Württemberg rocks .

The band experienced a big career boost in 2001 with their single Supersonic Speed from the album of the same name, which made it into the top 50 of the German single charts. Since then, Die Happy has been able to build a broad fan base through regular music albums and numerous concerts. The released records have had different chart successes, at least the studio albums from Supersonic Speed onwards all made it into the German album Top 100 .

With their album Four & More Unplugged , which was released on November 11, 2005, Die Happy fulfilled their dream of recording many of the rock songs as acoustic versions . In addition to the rock shows, the band also repeatedly completed tours with acoustic shows.

When Marta announced that she would be represented as a juror on the talent show Popstars in 2010 , this engagement sparked violent protests among fans. The band then made the statement that Marta's work on television had nothing to do with Die Happy and that the music would not suffer as a result.

The Happy performed their 1000th concert on February 11, 2012 in the Roxy in Ulm .
