Acoustic version

The acoustic version is the performance of a piece of music in which the originally intended electrically amplified instruments are exchanged for unamplified instruments with resonance bodies. The term is used equally when an instrument can be played both unamplified and electrically amplified and amplification is dispensed with.

Musicians use this type of performance to give style and sound an alternative impression or to be able to perform the songs originally recorded with a band solo.

Often the English term unplugged ("unplugged") is used, which means something like "plug pulled out". What is meant is the plug of the cable that connects electrically amplified instruments to the amplifier.

Acoustic versions play a role in modern popular music .
