Johann Baptist Schauer

Johann Baptist Schauer (born June 5, 1872 in Lindach , Palling parish ; † September 15, 1942 in Munich ) was a German Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

Life

Schauer went from 1884 in Scheyern to school, put his high school diploma in 1891 at the Freisinger grammar school, studied at the German College and the Gregorian University in Rome theology and was ordained on 28 October 1897 in Rome as a priest for the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. He held his first mass in San Ignazio at the Aloisius Altar. After completing his doctorate, he returned from Rome on May 5, 1898, and worked as a chaplain in Munich-Neuhausen from July 14, 1898. From July 19, 1899 he worked as a beneficiary and provisional preacher at St. Peter .

After his parish court examination (second service examination), he took over the task of director (inspector) of the boys' seminar in Freising from September 1, 1902 , from August 1 that of the director of the diocesan clerical seminary in Freising, and at the same time that of a professor of pastoral theology and education at the royal Lyceum in Freising.

On July 13, 1928 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and titular bishop of Sabadia . He was Michael Faulhaber , John Leo of marl (Bishop of Eichstaett) and Michael Buchberger (Bishop of Regensburg) on 29 September 1928 in Freising the bishop consecrated.

On August 10, 1930, Schauer gave Chrysostomus Schmid OSB († 1962), Mission Benedictine and second Archabbot of the Archabbey of St. Ottilien 1930–1957, the Benediction as abbot .

Pius XI. appointed showers as successor to the late 1933 provost Matthias Dunstmair on June 9, 1933 provost, that the director of the Munich cathedral chapter.

In 1936 he represented the seriously ill Passau diocesan bishop Sigismund Felix Freiherr von Ow-Felldorf , who died soon afterwards, at the priestly ordination of that year for the diocese of Passau .

Johann B. Schauer suffered a stroke on September 15, 1942 in Munich Central Station. He was buried on September 18 in the chapter crypt of Munich Cathedral.
