Franz Josef Dietl (born March 20, 1934 in Moosburg an der Isar ) is auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

Life

After graduating from high school in Ingolstadt in 1953, the son of a farmer studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck . On August 8, 1953, he settled the Sacred Heart missionaries his profession from and received on August 23, 1959 in Salzburg , the ordination .

On December 22, 1998, Franz Dietl was appointed auxiliary bishop in Munich and Freising and titular bishop of Sebarga by Pope John Paul II . In 1999 he was appointed Cathedral Chapter on February 1 and consecrated Bishop on February 7 by Cardinal Friedrich Wetter . As an episcopal vicar, he was assigned the pastoral care region South as his area of ​​responsibility.

In 1999 he became a member of the Pastoral Commission of the German Bishops 'Conference and in 2001 a member of the Commission for Ecumenical Issues of the German Bishops' Conference.

Awards and honors

In 1984 Dietl received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services to children and youth welfare and in 2011 the Cross of Merit 1st Class for his services to the implementation of Catholic social teaching, and in 1985 the Caritas badge in gold. In 1994 he was appointed to the clergy . In 1999 he was appointed honorary capital of the Rottenbuch deanery.
