history

Birkeneck Castle was built in 1706 as a hunting lodge by Prince Bishop of Freising Johann Franz Eckher von Kapfing and Liechteneck . After secularization in Bavaria in 1803, the property changed hands several times and finally came into the possession of Theodor von Hallberg-Broich , the founder of Hallbergmoos , in 1826 . In 1925 the Sacred Heart Missionaries bought the castle to set up a home for young people at risk. Today the facility offers around 100 places for young people who can no longer cope with their living situation without professional help. Inpatient, partial inpatient and outpatient care are offered.
