Kammerberg Castle is a castle in Kammerberg in the municipality of Fahrenzhausen . As Hofmarkschloss it was the manor of Hofmark Kammerberg .

history

Kammerberg is first mentioned in a document between 1006 and 1029 as "Perga". The local noble family of the "Chammerberger", descended from the lords of Hohenkammer, served the Bavarian dukes as ministerials from the 13th to the 15th century , mainly as judges and carers .

Kammerberg became the seat of a Hofmark that belonged to the district court of Kranzberg . The Chammerberger were succeeded by the barons of Freyberg as well as Preysing and Bünau.

The current castle was built after a fire in 1609 in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was rebuilt in the 19th century and was originally a four-wing complex. The facility was rebuilt several times. The west wing was rebuilt in 1790, the south wing was redesigned in a classical style after 1828. Today the castle is surrounded by a moat. In 1814 it was bought by the Unterbruck postman Karl Friedrich von Paur (1780–1854). The barons of Vequel-Westernach have lived in the castle since 1826 .
