Au Castle (Hallertau)
Schloss Au is a castle in the center of Au in the Hallertau in the Freising district . It is a rectangular system with corner oriel towers. The Au-Hallertau Castle Brewery is located on the castle grounds.
history
The history of the castle is closely linked to the market in Au in the Hallertau . The first documentary mention was made around the year 1000. The first known family were the Counts of Moosburg (the last died in 1281). The old castle burned down completely in the Landshut War of Succession from 1503 to 1505 and was rebuilt in its current dimensions from 1544 to 1578. The castle chapel of St. Karl Bartholomäus from 1690 was rebuilt in 1868. The castle garden is from the 19th and 20th centuries. Century.
The barons Beck von Peccoz have owned the castle since 1846, and they still live there today. In 1880 they had the palace redesigned in the neo-Renaissance style by the Munich architect Schoch .

The first documented mention of a court brewer from Au, Schweiger, dates back to 1590. The brewery and the castle have been owned by Barons Beck von Peccoz since 1846. The castle brewery Au / Hallertau Willibald Freiherr Beck v. Peccoz GmbH & Co is known regionally for its heavily hopped beers. The Chinese investor FCAA Castle Brewery Company , which, as a holding company, bundles the German activities of the Chinese retail group Dashang Group , has held a stake in Schlossbrauerei Au since 2019 .

The brewery is a member of the Brauring , a cooperation between private breweries from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
