The Brau Ring GmbH & Co. KG (after his own case also BRAU RING) is a joint venture company private breweries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, based in Wetzlar . It currently includes 220 companies with an annual production of around 6.5 million hectoliters, including almost all medium-sized brewing companies in Switzerland.

history

The cooperation began on the initiative of Manfred Gebhardt-Euler (1938–2018) in 1973 with 70 breweries and had the aim of ensuring the variety, regionality and quality of beer brewing. At the beginning, the focus was on strengthening the position vis-à-vis corporations by bundling purchasing activities.

today

In the meantime, in addition to joint purchasing, the cooperation companies are also offered training courses on topics relating to brewing, but also framework agreements on insurance, GEMA, IT, vehicles, communication and the procurement of spare parts.

The management is with:

  • Eckhard Himmel (chairman of the cooperation)
  • Matthias Hajenski (Managing Director)

seal of quality

The Brau-Ring quality seal has been awarded to medium-sized private breweries since it was founded. They have to have a strong position in the regional market and have annual independent audits carried out. In February 2019, 27 breweries carried this seal. The seal is partly awarded by the prime minister, state parliament presidents and state ministers.
