Hörgertshausen Castle
Hörgertshausen Castle was a royal palace in Hörgertshausen ( Freising district ).
history
In 1550 Count Hanns von Freyen- Seiboldsdorf zu Schenkenau and Hörgertshausen in Hörgertshausen at the Hofmarkssitz built a castle made of stone and clay bricks. Later a tower was built on the northwest side. Due to the other occupations of the lords of the castle in the royal Bavarian administration, the building was less and less inhabited from 1700 onwards. The associated castle economy was converted into a farm in 1720 and sold. In 1850 the castle and the property were advertised in the Moosburger Wochenblatt as a building with a "beautiful roof structure with two grain floors and a vaulted cellar" for a price of 1,800 guilders. In 1852 the dilapidated castle was demolished.
According to legend, there was a secret underground passage in the castle that led to the Schlossberg in Fuchswinkel.
The last and probably only surviving pictorial evidence of Hörgertshausen Castle is in the apse of the parish church of St. Jakobus the Elder in a fresco . Today the Schlossstrasse is still reminiscent of the former castle in Hörgertshausen.
