Yussuf Saleh (born March 22, 1984 in Solna ) is an Ethiopian - Swedish football player . The midfielder has played his career in Sweden and Kazakhstan so far.

Career

Saleh played in his youth for the Swedish clubs FC Inter Orhoy, Råsunda IS and AIK , before he made his first steps in the adult area in the 2006 season at the lower-class club Hässelby SK . From there he moved to the third division Vasalund / Essinge IF in early 2007 . In the summer of 2007, a loan deal was agreed with the Spanish club Ciudad de Murcia - a Swede was already under contract with Henok Goitom at the time - but this was agreed a few days after the takeover of an investor from Granada and the associated relocation and dissolution of the club the agreement ultimately did not materialize. Therefore, he continued to play for the previous club, with whom he narrowly missed a promotion place at the end of the 2007 season as third in the table of the northern season .

After another half-series at the club, which is now called Vasalunds IF, his former youth club AIK signed him at the end of June 2008 after making a good impression during the trial training and audition. At his new club, however, the midfielder did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player and often only acted as a substitute in the Allsvenskan , although he was only four times in the starting lineup in a year and a half. In early 2010, therefore, the club for Syrianska FC awarded him to the Superettan . In 22 games he scored two goals there and thus contributed to the club's promotion to the first division. The following spring, the loan business was renewed to relieve AIK of the costs. After successfully avoiding relegation, Salah stayed at Syrianska FC, who signed him together with Ismail Lawal .

In February 2013, Yussuf Saleh was signed by Tobyl Qostanai from Kazakhstan. However, he only stayed here for one season, after which he returned to Sweden. Again he joined the now second-rate Syrianska FC, with whom he signed a contract valid until summer 2014. After his contract expired, he moved to IK Sirius within the Superettan in August . Just a year later, AFC United signed him. There he completed 14 league games and scored one goal.

After being without a club for a long time, Saleh rejoined third division Vasalunds IF in August 2017 . Since 2019 he has been under contract with FoC Farsta in the fifth division.

National team

From 2012 to 2014, Yussuf Saleh completed 16 senior internationals for the Ethiopian selection , in which he scored twice.
