Solna is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland .
geography
Solna borders Stockholm and the municipalities of Sundbyberg , Sollentuna and Danderyd . The whole community is part of the crime scene Stockholm. Within Solna there are parts of the lakes Brunnsviken and Edsviken .
The urban community is traditionally divided into the districts Bergshamra, Haga, Hagalund, Huvudsta, Järva, Råsunda, Skytteholm and Ulriksdal. However, the breakdown has no administrative function.
Attractions
- The Ulriksdal and Karlberg castles and Haga Castle in Hagapark are located in the municipality of Solna .
- The former Filmstaden film studios are located in the Råsunda district .
- The Friends Arena , the new Swedish national football stadium, is located in Solna. It replaced the Råsundastadion .

Solna is shaped by industry. The Karolinska sjukhuset hospital , Siemens and SAS are among the largest employers in the municipality . In addition, many other Swedish companies have their headquarters in Solna, including Vattenfall , ICA , Billerud and Axfood as well as the two largest Swedish construction companies Skanska and NCC AB . Many international companies such as BMW , Ferag and Lidl also have their Swedish headquarters in Solna. The Stockholm University (Stockholms universitet) maintains in Solna campus for international exchange students (u. A. Erasmus program ). In addition, the world-renowned Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is based in Solna.

Solna has a train station on the Stockholm – Sundsvall line . With the Pendeltåg is a good connection to the center of Stockholm and Arlanda Airport available.
Sports
The best-known sports club is AIK Solna , including the handball department AIK Handboll . The AIK footballers played in the Råsundastadion , which is located in the Solna district of Råsunda and also served as the Swedish national stadium , until the end of 2012 .
