Carl Hartman (botanist)
Carl Hartman (born June 5, 1824 in Solna , † April 19, 1884 in Örebro ) was a Swedish botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " C. Hartm. "
Hartman, the son of the doctor and botanist Carl Johan Hartman , studied with Elias Magnus Fries at Uppsala University , where he received his master's degree in 1848 with a dissertation on the flora of the area around Gävle . He then traveled to London (1849/50) to go through the herbarium of Carl von Linné there to clarify taxonomic questions. In doing so, he made many contacts with European botanists. He then accompanied the Italian botanist Filippo Parlatore on a trip to the North Cape , which they had to break off before reaching the North Cape, as Parlatore became seasick on the sea voyage and turned back. Then he was a teacher in Gävle and Örebro.
He edited his father's handbook of Scandinavian flora in new editions.
