Coordinates: 59 ° 12 ′  N , 17 ° 46 ′  E Salem is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the historic province of Södermanland . The main town of the community is Salem , actually Salemstaden, but this name never caught on. The community consists of two parts, Salem and Rönninge .

The parish ( socken ) Salem was called Slaem until the middle of the 17th century , then the name was changed to Salem according to the biblical model.
