Sigtuna is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland . It is located about 50 km northwest of Stockholm and has an area of 328 km². The main town is Märsta , other localities are the eponymous town of Sigtuna and Husby-Ärlinghundra, Norrsunda, Rosersberg, Skepptuna and other smaller villages.

The area of the municipality of Sigtuna is largely flat and used for agriculture. The bird lake Fysingen is located in the southeast of the municipality. The southern border is formed by branches of the Mälaren such as Sigtunafjärden, on which the city of Sigtuna is located, and Skofjärden. In the south there are also some of the most beautiful Swedish castles, such as As the royal Rosersberg Palace , Castle Steninge u. a. Stockholm / Arlanda Airport is located in the center of the municipality, a few kilometers northeast of the main town of Märsta .

economy

The service sector dominates in the municipality of Sigtuna. Arlanda is the largest workplace with over 13,000 employees in various industries. There are a number of national educational and training institutions and conference centers in and around the town of Sigtuna. Some small and medium-sized industrial companies have also settled in the municipality of Sigtuna.
