geography

The community lies in the area of Roslagen . These are the archipelago off the coast of Uppland and the adjacent mainland. The communities of Norrtälje and Östhammar make up the largest part of Roslagen today. The municipality is the largest in the country and covers about a third of the area.

The south-western part of the island of Märket also belongs to the municipality .
