Rimbo is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Stockholm and the historical province of Uppland . The place is part of the municipality of Norrtälje and is located 20 km west of the main town of Norrtälje .

history

The place gained importance from 1884 as the crossing point of several narrow-gauge railway lines of the network of Stockholm – Roslagens Järnvägar . The last of these connections was shut down in 1981. There are plans to rebuild the line towards Stockholm , which still leads to Kårsta today . Financing for this 14 km long gap is not secured.
