Postcode (Sweden)
The postcodes in Sweden (Swedish: Postnummer ) were introduced on March 19, 1968 and consist of five digits, with the first three grouped together. The first two digits indicate the region to which a shipment is sent, the rest, depending on the size of the location, the more precise name of the location or the type of mail delivery. In Sweden every post office has at least one postcode, in places with more than one post office each destination office has its own postcode. It is used for the outgoing and incoming service.
The higher the first digit, the further north the target region is. The "1" is reserved for Stockholm. Approximate geographical location of the postal regions after the first digit:
