history

About 5000 archaeological finds are known from the prehistoric epochs. Until the Epiphany in 1101 in Kungahälla the area between (Denmark,) Norway and Sweden was controversial, then it stayed with Sweden. After Gustav I. Wasa had divided the country into provinces ( län ) in the 16th century , Dalsland lost its administrative importance. The same applied from the beginning of the 20th century to the five Harden into which Dalsland was divided.
