Håverud is a village ( småort ) in the western Swedish province of Västra Götaland and the historic Dalsland landscape . The village in the municipality of Mellerud is located on the Dalsland Canal between two lakes and has a nationally famous aqueduct .
The trough bridge was built in 1868 and is a combination of road, railroad and aqueduct bridge. The adjacent canal museum provides information about local history, nature, geology, canal construction and industry. Directly at the museum is a landing stage for passenger ships in the Vänern and the northern lake areas, which extend into the southern parts of Norway .
