Dalskog is a small town ( småort ) in the Swedish municipality of Mellerud . It is located in the province of Västra Götalands län and the historic province of Dalsland .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1531 and means forest in a river valley . More than 30 finds prove that the area was already settled in the Bronze Age. During the municipal reform in 1952, Dalskog became part of the rural municipality of Kroppefjälls landskommun, which in 1969 became part of the rural municipality (from 1971 municipality) Mellerud.
The church
The towerless church was consecrated in 1750. The ceiling painting is from 1759. The pulpit is from the 17th century and the baptismal font from the 13th century.
