Dals Rostock is a village ( Tatort ) in the Swedish municipality of Mellerud . The place is regionally only called Rostock . The addition "Dals" in the official name refers to the historical province of Dalsland and was chosen to avoid confusion with the northern German city of Rostock . The population was 882 people in 2015.
history
Apart from the health resort (see below), the place was created together with the Dalslandsbanan railway line in the 1870s. The breakpoint and the station building built during this time have been shut down or demolished for a long time. A half-size model of this building is still in place. The post office for Dals Rostock set up in 1908 existed until 1995.
Rostock's well
The iron spring in Dals Rostock was probably used as a spa facility as early as the 17th century. Several drinking and bathing halls were built around 1760 under the direction of Provost Waldenström. A frequently seen guest at the beginning of the 19th century was King Karl XIV. Johann . In the following years, the facilities were visited by up to 600 guests in the high season. After a major fire in 1961, the only remaining buildings were the restaurant and a doctors villa. A museum and a café were built here.
In addition, the herb garden has been preserved.
Personalities
