Upplands Väsby is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the historic province of Uppland . The main town of the municipality is Upplands Väsby .
geography
Upplands Väsby has an area of 75 square kilometers and borders the municipalities of Sollentuna , Järfälla , Upplands-Bro , Sigtuna , Vallentuna and Täby . Nature is characterized by an Ice Age moraine on which arable and forest areas lie.
history
The area was settled early on. This is evidenced by the many archaeological sites and the large number of rune stones . The name of the municipality comes from a castle belonging to the French aristocratic family De Geer , Stora Wäsby. The Sköldnora Royal Manor was established in the 1740s . There were development spurts after the construction of the railway line between Stockholm and Uppsala and after the establishment of Arlanda Airport .
Important companies
The German electronics company Siemens also has its Swedish headquarters in the municipality of Upplands Väsby . There is also a production facility from Mondelēz International ( Marabou ).
