Michael Tureniec (born June 16, 1985 in Solna ) is a professional Swedish poker player .

Personal

Tureniec grew up in Solna . After graduating from school, he did military service . Tureniec then worked as a cashier in a supermarket . He lives in Stockholm .

Poker career

Tureniec started playing poker in 2003 and has been playing online poker since 2004 . You can find him on PokerStars under the nickname Skämmes . As of January 2009, Tureniec was sponsored by the Full Tilt Poker platform . Since 2007 he has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

Tureniec was in June 2007 for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and occurred in two tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money. He received the larger prize money of around 35,000 US dollars for the 413rd place in the main event . In early October 2008 Tureniec reached the final table at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in London . He finished in second place and received prize money of just under 530,000 British pounds , at the time the equivalent of more than 950,000 US dollars, his highest prize money to date. In November 2008 Tureniec won a Master Classics of Poker tournament in Amsterdam with a bonus of around 160,000 euros . In early November 2009 he sat at the final table of the Partouche Poker Tour in Cannes and finished seventh for € 133,800. In mid-September 2009, he took second place at the English Poker Open in London for the equivalent of around 200,000 US dollars. At the end of November 2010, Tureniec won an EPT side event in Barcelona and received prize money of 140,000 euros. In February 2011 he prevailed at the EPT Main Event in Copenhagen against a field of 449 participants and secured a prize money equivalent to around 680,000 US dollars. Tureniec won the Little One for One Drop at the 2016 WSOP for around $ 525,000 and a bracelet . In early July 2017 he reached the Crazy Eights of the WSOP 2017 final table, finishing in seventh place for more than $ 100,000 in prize money. In April 2018, Tureniec won the WPTDeepstacks Immokalee of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood , Florida , with a prize of almost $ 150,000.

Overall, Tureniec has earned more than 5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments, making him the third most successful Swedish poker player after Martin Jacobson and Chris Björin .
