Schaefer works as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army . He lives in Seattle .

Poker career

Schaefer played online from July 2006 to August 2010 under the nicknames schaefer ( PokerStars ) , SchaefMyAss ( Full Tilt Poker and UltimateBet ) and SchaeferBeer ( partypoker ) . There he earned almost 180,000 US dollars with tournament poker . Since 2005 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments.

Schaefer won the Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Deauville in February 2005 . For this he prevailed against 244 other players and received a bonus of 144,000 euros . About a month later he reached the final table again at the EPT Main Event and finished the tournament in Monte-Carlo behind Rob Hollink in second place for another 350,000 euros. In the summer of 2006 , Schaefer was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came into the money twice. At the 2012 WSOP he won a tournament in the variant No-Limit Hold'em and received a bracelet and more than $ 300,000.

Overall, Schaefer has earned more than a million dollars playing poker in live tournaments.
