The Global Poker Index , or GPI for short , is a poker ranking list that is updated weekly and lists poker players based on their success in renowned live tournaments . Since July 29, 2020, she has been led by Sam Greenwood .

mode

The Global Poker Index evaluates the data from the Hendon Mob Poker Database . It takes into account results from the last three years. The ranking was initially updated twice a week. It has been updated every Wednesday since July 2014.

The GPI currently includes almost 650,000 players and more than 250,000 tournaments. He also hosted the European Poker Awards from 2001 to 2016 and the American Poker Awards from 2015 to 2018 . The joint Global Poker Awards have been presented once a year since 2019 .

European Player of the Year

Marcel Lüske was named Player of the Year in 2001 and 2004

From 2001 to 2015, the best European player was named Player of the Year at the annual European Poker Awards . The prize was awarded to those who had collected the most tournament points over the year.

GPI Player of the Year

Players collect points for every cash placed in a live tournament based on the tournament's prize pool and their final placement. The best results of a player are added up and give the final score, which is decisive for the ranking. The GPI Player of the Year award was presented at the American Poker Awards from 2014 to 2017 . The title has been awarded at the Global Poker Awards since 2018 . The top 10, the best woman and all German-speaking players from the top 30 are listed below.

Global Poker League

The Global Poker Index is the founder and organizer of the Global Poker League . In this poker league, poker professionals from twelve teams compete against each other. The first season was played from April 5 to December 1, 2016. A second season was played in 2017.
