Mustapha Kanit (born January 24, 1991 in Alessandria ) is a professional Italian poker player .

Personal

Kanit comes from Alessandria in the Italian region of Piedmont . In 2009 he dropped out of college due to his poker career. He lives in Vienna .

Poker career

Career

Kanit started playing poker in 2008 by playing with friends and online . He successfully plays online poker under the nicknames lasagnaaammm ( PokerStars ) , mustacchione (PokerStars.IT) and potta_x_potta ( Full Tilt Poker ) . His tournament revenue is over $ 6.5 million , with more than $ 6 million of which was earned on PokerStars . Kanit's greatest online success was winning the Main Event of the Spring Championship of Online Poker at the end of May 2015 on PokerStars , where he received a prize of more than 1.3 million US dollars. Since October 2017 it has been sponsored by the French platform Winamax . Since 2009 Kanit has also been participating in renowned live tournaments .

Kanits first major win was 53,500 euros for second place at the Malta Poker Dream in early February 2010 in Portomaso . In mid-March 2011, he won the main event of the Italian Poker Tour in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, and received a prize of 200,000 euros. In summer 2012 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in three tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . In early 2014 Kanit reached the final table of the high roller tournament as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures in the Bahamas and finished the event in fourth place for just under 500,000 US dollars. At the 2014 WSOP , Kanit made two final tables and cashed four times. At the beginning of May 2015 he won the super high roller tournament of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte-Carlo with a prize of 936,500 euros. At the end of August 2015, Kanit was also victorious in the EPT high roller in Barcelona , collecting a further 740,000 euros. He repeated this triumph at the EPT in Dublin in mid-February 2016 and received a prize of more than 500,000 euros for winning the high roller . At the end of April 2016, Kanit landed in second place behind Ole Schemion in the Super High Roller at the EPT Monte-Carlo and won his highest prize money to date of almost 1.5 million euros. In mid-February 2018, he finished second at the Super High Roller at partypoker Millions Germany in Rozvadov for 500,000 euros. In November 2018 he also took second place in the high roller at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party in Nassau , Bahamas, which was paid for with more than 270,000 US dollars.

Overall, Kanit has earned more than 11.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him the second most successful Italian poker player after Dario Sammartino . From April to November 2016 he played as part of the Rome Emperors in the Global Poker League , but missed the playoffs with his team.
