Jewhen "Eugene" Katschalow ( Ukrainian Євген Качалов ; English transcription Yevgeniy Katchalov ; born February 21, 1981 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a professional Ukrainian - American poker player .

Personal

Kachalov was born in the Ukrainian SSR and came to the United States with his family at the age of ten . He lives in New York district of Brooklyn and received a diploma in financial management of the Stern School of Business in New York. He then worked as a stockbroker .

Poker career

Kachalov started playing poker professionally in 2003 . You can find him online under the nickname MyRabbiFoo , with whom he won a title at the World Championship of Online Poker in September 2009 on the PokerStars platform . As E. Katchalov , he was part of Team PokerStars from March 2011 to mid-2016 . Katschalow has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2004 .

In December 2004 he made the money for the first time at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) and finished the Five-Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas in 35th place for almost 30,000 US dollars in prize money. In mid-March 2005, he placed money at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 18th in Monte-Carlo for 15,800 euros . In June 2005 Kachalov was also the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino successfully in Las Vegas and came in two tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold 'em the money. In December 2007, he won the WPT's Five Diamond World Poker Classic, his biggest prize to date of just under $ 2.5 million. In January 2011, Kachalov won the Super High Roller Event in the Bahamas as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with a prize of 1.5 million dollars. At the 2011 WSOP , he secured a bracelet and more than $ 120,000 in prize money by winning a tournament in Seven Card Stud . At the beginning of September 2011 he reached the final table at the EPT Main Event in Barcelona and finished the tournament in third place for 315,000 euros. Also in February 2014 he sat at the final table of the EPT main event and only had to admit defeat to the Greek Sotirios Koutoupas in Deauville . For his second place Katschalow received prize money of almost 380,000 euros. His last live cash placement to date was in July 2018 at the WSOP Main Event .

Overall, Katschalow has earned over nine million dollars with poker in live tournaments, making him the most successful Ukrainian poker player . From April to November 2016 he played as part of LA Sunset in the Global Poker League and made it to the playoffs with his team.
