Bryn J. Kenney (born November 1, 1986 in Long Beach , New York ) is a professional American poker player .

Kenney is considered one of the best tournament players in the world. He has earned almost $ 56.5 million in live tournaments playing poker , making him the most successful poker player in terms of tournament prize money. He won the most prize money of all players at the PokerStars Championship , the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the Triton Super High Roller Series . Kenney won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker in 2014, the main event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in 2019 and numerous super high roller events, including two titles each on the European Poker Tour and the Triton Super High Roller Series . In August 2019, he won the Triton Million for Charity, the highest prize money ever paid out in a poker tournament of more than 20.5 million US dollars.

Kenney was at the top of the poker world rankings for 14 weeks in a row from August 23 to November 29, 2017 . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , he was named one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Education and family

Kenney graduated from high school in his hometown in 2004 . He lives in New York . His younger brother Tyler (* 1989) also earns his living as a poker player. Kenney was dating the poker player Ana Marquez .

Kenney plays online on the PokerStars platform under the nickname BrynKenney . He won in 2010 and 2014 each have a title at the Spring Championship of Online Poker and finished in 2013 and 2017 each have a second place at the World Championship of Online Poker . Career

2007-2013: beginnings

Kenney has participated in prestigious live tournaments since 2007 . At the end of October 2007, Kenney cashed in at the championship event of the North American Poker Championships as part of the World Poker Tour in Niagara Falls and finished 31st out of 504 players for around 35,000  Canadian dollars . In June 2008 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and placed in the money at a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the 2010 WSOP , Kenney earned more than $ 400,000 in four cash placements, with his biggest win coming in 28th in the main event . In early 2011, he reached the final table at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures (PCA) super high roller event in the Bahamas and finished the tournament in third place for his highest cash prize to date of $ 643,000.

Overall, Kenney had tournament revenue of just under 3.5 million US dollars by the end of 2013.

2014–2018: Successful super high roller

At the 2014 World Series of Poker , Kenney made it to three final tables and won a mixed 10-game tournament . To do this, he prevailed against 444 other players and received a bracelet and a prize of over 150,000 US dollars. From mid-December 2014 to mid-January 2015, Kenney earned more than $ 1.5 million in one month by hitting two final tables in Las Vegas and one final table and eleventh place at the PCA in the Bahamas at high roller events . At the 2015 WSOP , he narrowly missed winning his second bracelet and ended up in second place in an event for almost $ 300,000 in prize money. At the beginning of 2016, Kenney won the PCA's super high roller tournament, in which he had already finished third the previous year. For this he defeated a field of 57 players and secured his highest prize money to date of over 1.6 million US dollars. At the end of April 2017, Bryn Kenney won the Super High Roller of the PokerStars Championship in Monte-Carlo and received a prize of just under 1.8 million  euros . In mid-September 2017, he also prevailed at the third event of the Poker Masters at the Aria Resort & Casino and received prize money of 960,000 US dollars. With income of over one million US dollars from the five events of the Poker Masters , Kenney finished second behind Steffen Sontheimer in the race for the Purple Jacket ™ . Overall, Kenney earned more than $ 8.5 million from tournament poker in 2017, more than any other player. He also led the ranking of the GPI Player of the Year for a long time and was only relegated to second place by Adrián Mateos in mid-December 2017 . For this he received the GPI American Player of the Year award at the American Poker Awards in Los Angeles at the end of February 2018 . In March 2018, Kenney took fifth place at the Super High Roller Bowl China in Macau for the equivalent of almost 1.5 million US dollars in prize money. In mid-April 2018 he finished fifth in the € 100k Super High Roller of the partypoker Millions in Barcelona for 340,000 euros. At the 2018 WSOP , Kenney finished fifth in the first high roller event for just under $ 650,000.

Since 2019: Jump to number 1 on the All Time Money List

In early February 2019, Kenney won the main event of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne and received prize money of almost 1.3 million Australian dollars due to a deal with two other players  . Two weeks later he also prevailed at the seventh event of the US Poker Open at the Aria Resort & Casino and secured a prize of 450,000 US dollars. At the beginning of March 2019, Kenney took fourth place at the third event of the Triton Series in Jeju-do, South Korea , which was paid for around 500,000 US dollars. Three days later, he finished runner-up in the series' main event and received more than $ 3 million in prize money from a deal with Timothy Adams . In May 2019, Kenney won two Triton Series tournaments in Budva , Montenegro , within three days , earning him more than $ 4 million in prize money. Early August 2019 he reached the Triton Million for Charity in London , which has a buy-in of one million pounds world most expensive poker tournament, the final table . There he finished second after losing heads-up to Aaron Zang , but due to a deal he received the highest prize money ever paid out in a poker tournament of the equivalent of more than 20.5 million US dollars. With this, Kenney took the lead in the All Time Money List , which he has held since then.

Kenney's live tournament revenue in 2019 was over $ 30 million, making it by far the most prize money of any poker player. With this sum, he set a new record for tournament income within one year and already exceeded the previous record of 25.4 million US dollars that Justin Bonomo won in 2018 in August .
