Stephen James Chidwick (born May 10, 1989 in Deal ) is a professional British poker player from England .

Chidwick is considered one of the best tournament players in the world. He has earned almost 34.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him the most successful European poker player in sixth place among the most successful poker players in terms of tournament prize money . His greatest successes include winning a bracelet at the World Series of Poker in June 2019 and fourth place at the Triton Million for Charity in August 2019, which brought him the equivalent of almost 5.5 million US dollars.

Chidwick topped the live poker world rankings for 25 consecutive weeks from April 18 to October 9, 2018 . Only Alex Foxen and Fedor Holz did a longer series . From June 26th to July 9th and from July 24th to 30th, 2019, Chidwick led the ranking for 3 more weeks. From August 14th to December 24th, 2019 he was again the leader for 19 weeks. From June 17, 2020, he was back at the top for a week. Overall, Chidwick was world number one for 48 weeks , only Jason Mercier and Alex Foxen held the position longer. At the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker in June 2019, Chidwick was named one of the 50 best players in poker history .

Chidwick comes from Deal in the English county of Kent . In 2016 he won a tournament at the Backgammon World Championship. Chidwick lives in Playa del Carmen, Mexico .

Chidwick plays online under the nicknames stevie444 ( PokerStars , Full Tilt Poker and UltimateBet ) , stevie_444 ( partypoker ) and TylersDad64 (PokerStars.FR) . He started freerolls at the age of 16 and now has tournament revenues of more than five million US dollars . Chidwick secured his biggest online prize money in mid-May 2009 on the Full Tilt Poker platform when he finished second in an event in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series for just under 150,000 US dollars. 2008–2013: First tournament successes

Chidwick made his first live cash placement at a PokerStars Caribbean Adventures (PCA) event in the Bahamas .
