Thomas "Tom" Marchese (born September 30, 1987 in Parsippany , New Jersey ) is a professional American poker player .

Poker career
Career
Marchese began playing poker in private with friends in high school . He has been playing online poker under the nickname kingsofcards since 2006 and has grown his bankroll from initially 300 US dollars to more than 200,000 US dollars. In 2009 he switched to live poker, and since 2010 he has participated in renowned live tournaments .
In late February 2010, Marchese won a North American Poker Tour tournament for around $ 830,000 in prize money. Two months later, he cashed in at the high roller event as part of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte-Carlo, for which he received 263,000 euros . In June 2010 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished twice in the money. In early October 2010, he narrowly missed the final table at the EPT main event in London and ended up in seventh place, which brought him the equivalent of more than $ 150,000. After he made it into the money twice at the World Poker Tour (WPT) in October and was also successful again at the NAPT , he was awarded the Card Player Player of the Year Award at the end of 2010 .
Marchese cashed three times at the 2011 WSOP . At the end of May 2012, he won the WPT Super High Roller Event in Las Vegas for a $ 1.3 million prize. Since September 2014 he has been a regular guest at poker tournaments at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with buy-ins of at least 25,000 US dollars. Marchese has won 10 tournaments so far and earned more than 8 million US dollars. In mid-December 2014 he reached the final table at the WPT Alpha8 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and finished the tournament in second place for his previous record prize money of over $ 1.5 million. At the beginning of June 2015 , Marchese narrowly missed winning a WSOP bracelet and finished second in a tournament in the Pot Limit Hold'em variant behind the German Paul Michaelis . At the 2016 WSOP , Marchese finished in 14th place in the Main Event for around $ 430,000 in prize money. In preparation for the final table of the WSOP main event, he coached poker player Gordon Vayo , who took second place, in the same year . In mid-December 2016, Marchese finished second behind Jan Schwippert in the Super High Roller of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic and received prize money of over one million US dollars. In September 2017 he won the second event of the Poker Masters in third place for $ 300,000. In May 2018, Marchese won the high roller of the WPT Bellagio Elite Poker Championship for a prize of $ 432,000. In mid-August 2018, he finished third in the high roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood and received more than $ 370,000 in prize money. In early July 2019, Marchese won the main event of the partypoker Live Millions Vegas @ Aria and secured a prize of one million US dollars.
In total, Marchese has earned more than $ 19 million in poker in live tournaments . From April to November 2016 he played as part of the New York Rounders in the Global Poker League , but missed the playoffs with his team.
